Homemade BBQ Sauce

I solved the mystery of BBQ sauce.

After months and months of research I have discovered how companies make that deliciously sweet, yet tangy, sauce. You. are. welcome.

Wait. There wasn’t a mystery about the creation of BBQ sauce? People have been making it at home for years?

Well, fine. I didn’t actually spend months researching it anyway.

Sometimes you forget how easily these things can be made. With summer (the season not the school year summer), going on hot and strong, who doesn’t want to to taste a little bit of summer… in the way of BBQ sauce. With these super simple ingredients, you could probably whip this up right away and serve it with chicken, ribs, pork, or whatever else you may use BBQ sauce for.

Here is what you need:

Pretty simple stuff, eh?

Here are the measurements:

1/2 cup ketchup

1 tablespoons honey

1 heaping teaspoon dijon

1 teaspoon soy sauce

1 teaspoon worchestestestestershire sauce

2 to 3 tablespoons red wine vinegar

a couple of shakes of red pepper flakes

salt and pepper to taste

Add all the ingredients, except the salt and pepper, to a medium sized bowl.

Whisk ingredients together to combine sauce.

Then, add salt and pepper according to your taste. I ground in some fresh pepper and sprinkled in a little salt to off set the sweetness.

Whisk again to combine everything.

And TA DA!

You know me. I am a sauce girl. That was probably the easiest recipe I have ever shared. I plan on putting this on some chicken later this week. You could also use it on BBQ Chicken Pizza…. just an idea.
