Sweets for My Sweetie
1February 9, 2012 by blackbirdideas
Valentine’s Day is next week. Its on the 14th. Tuesday. Just keeping you in the loop.
Whether dating or single, I have always celebrated Valentine’s Day. I have always been one of those girls who is either on a date or who is getting in touch with my girlfriends on February 14th. Once, I may have even worn black. Once… maybe. I fall for Valentine’s Day every year and with it being during the week this year, I imagine I will be cooking in. Bf works a lot during the week and often during dinner time, but I won’t let that get me down. I am having a Valentine’s Day dinner (even if it just for myself).
After scouring the internet for what to make, I thought that some of you may be in a similar predicament so I thought I would share some of what I stumbled across. Some are my own recipes, some are recipes that I cooked but didn’t create, and some are recipes that I just stumbled across today for the first time.
{Here are some appetizers that I thought would be perfect for a V-Day dinner}
{Fontina Stuffed Dates Wrapped in Bacon}
{Smoked Salmon with accoutrements}
This is me and Bf (and I think his entire family’s) go-to appetizer I was shocked to see it on the internet the exact way that we make it. Its delish.
{Its clear from my list that I am craving steak… or scallops… or something of the like}
{Seared Scallops over Wilted Spinach}
{NY Strip with Red Wine Sauce}
This is the first fancy dish that I ever learned to cook. Super easy and is sure to impress!
{Pork Chops with Garlic and Wine}
One of the best steak recipes ever. I have made this same recipe before and it is superb!
{Seriously what is Valentine’s Day without red velvet cake dessert?}
{Because sometimes you can’t have dinner together… or you would rather have breakfast together… or have breakfast for dinner because it is more romantic. I wouldn’t be upset with either.}
{When Pancakes Met French Toast and Fell in Love}
Shoo… it was so hard for me not to comment on each picture and try to convince you to make that one for Valentine’s Day. These are just a couple of my favorite decadent, fancy, and over-the-top dinners. You know, the kind that are suitable for Valentine’s day. I am off to eat plain chicken now that I can still fit into my pants the 15th of February.
